Reopen Update
Posted: May 31, 2020
MCMA Families,
I hope this message finds all of you healthy and safe. As of now, all North Carolina MCMA studios will remain closed for in-person classes. The earliest reopen date for gyms and fitness studios, including martial arts, is June 26th according to NC’s Phase 3 reopen plan.
We have been closely monitoring the situation in our community as well as guidance from state and federal health officials. Once we have the okay from the state government, and are confident in our safety plan, we will reopen for LIMITED in-person lessons and daily online lessons. Here is a basic outline of our plan.
-
The week before reopening we will deep clean the entire facility and practice our safety protocols.
-
In-person class sizes will be limited based on studio size to allow for social distancing.
-
Online reservation systems will be used to secure your spot in class. Reservations will be first come first served.
-
We ask that for now students limit in-person classes to 2 times per week. Zoom classes do not have attendance restrictions. This will give every student an opportunity to get their required classes for the week.
-
The platform/app used to reserve spots is called MyStudio and is available in the Apple/Google app stores. Here is a video demonstrating how the reservation system works (this videos was made for our Plano, TX location which opens tomorrow) https://youtu.be/9Tcpg6pXDzo
-
Details on how to register for your MCMA location will be emailed out by the end of the week.
-
-
Zoom classes will be taught every day and will not require reservations. Zoom and in-person class times alternate to allow adequate time for facility sanitizing.
-
In-Person Class Safety Precautions:
-
All students & parents who enter the facility will have their temperatures checked with a no-contact thermometer.
-
All instructors will receive daily health screenings and will not be allowed into a MCMA location if they have virus symptoms.
-
MCMA staff will all wear masks. Students & parents are encouraged to wear masks.
-
All mats, touch surfaces, and equipment will be sanitized during zoom lessons (between in-person classes) to allow for full dwell-time disinfection.
-
Weather permitting, doors will remain open to circulate fresh air and to prevent touching of door handles.
-
Students will be spaced out on the mat according to social distancing guidelines.
-
Water fountains will be disabled, students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles.
-
The lobby will be reconfigured with social distancing in mind.
-
Students are encouraged to change into their uniforms & belts at home.
-
If it is more convenient for you to attend the Zoom virtual classes, please do so. Our goal is for all students to get back on track in their martial arts journey. Both the in-person and Zoom lessons will give students the opportunity to earn required stripes to test for their next belt level. Color Belt testings will be scheduled for the end of July and be available in-school and online. May Black Belt testing will be moved to August, details will be emailed out separately.
We are excited for this opportunity to get back to doing what we love and to serve our community. Please feel free to contact us with any questions regarding our reopen plan. More details will be released once available.
Sincerely,
Grand Master Chang & Master Cris
