Reopen Update - September 2020
Posted: May 31, 2021
DEAR MCMA TAEKWONDO COMMUNITY,
September is here and school has started! We can't believe it's been almost SIX months since we closed our doors. Yesterday the Governor announced that martial arts schools can carefully reopen with restrictions. This is the update we have been waiting for.
We miss training on the mats as much as our students do. But, we believe it's important to take a measured and careful approach to reopening. That said, we *won't* be back in the school this week for group classes.
What Now? We will continue to offer our expanded schedule of outdoor classes, zoom lessons, and private 1-on-1 sessions for the remainder of the week.
What's Next? Our reopen date will be Tuesday, September 8th (we will be closed on Monday for Labor Day). We can't wait to show you what we're doing to keep our community safe as we get back onto the mats.
When We Reopen: Class sizes will be smaller and limited based on mat space, social distancing guidelines, and the Governor’s capacity order. Each student will have a dedicated spot on the mat with room to practice safely and socially distanced from other students. We'll allow additional time between classes for enhanced cleaning and sanitation protocols. We will be fogging the entire studio space with a high-quality germicide and disinfectant on a frequent basis. Zoom lessons will also still be offered at each location.
What About My Membership? First, thank you so much to the students who have activated their memberships so far! By doing so you allowed us to “keep the lights on” and make sure our students have schools to come back to and our staff have the careers they love. Students with active memberships may begin attending classes immediately. Many of you indicated you would return once we're allowed to reopen. We are just a few short days away from that moment, so please contact us to get your membership reactivated. Those students/families who are still hesitant to return in-person, we encourage you to take part in our virtual classes. We have students progressing in rank from their own homes throughout the shutdown. A handful have even tested for their Black Belts via Zoom! Memberships will not be reactivated without prior notice from us, but we are confident that we will reopen safely and give students a path towards their next martial arts goal.
Perseverance and Indomitable Spirit are two of the most important Black Belt Life Skills we teach our students, and the coronavirus has tested those in all of us. Stay strong and we can’t wait to see you all in class!
Thank you for your continued support. YOU are the reason we continue to do what we do. Stay safe.
